It was the middle of the night. I hear screaming. Go check on the girls. They are both sitting up looking like they just saw a ghost. Kyra solemnly tells me they have seen a humongous giraffe coming out of the ceiling fan. I say, "Oh honey, that was just your imagination!" Her eyes widened as she thought about that for a moment. They seemed okay with that and so I tucked them in, kissed their cheeks and wished them good night.
Next morning: I go in to say good morning and Kyra exclaims, "My 'magination' didn't come back! Maybe it is in the closet!! Will you check?"
I've tried to explain to them what their imagination is but it has been burned into their little minds that their imagination is most definitely a giant giraffe coming to get them.
They've never had a night light, but with their imagination on the loose we decided now might be a good time for one. It has been several weeks since we purchased this pink, princess nightlight and I am happy to report it has successfully kept their imagination away.

Oh that Kyra...such a cute little lady! How funny that they think Imagination is a giraffe...at least it's not a monster or E.T. right?
I have to say both my girls have night lights in their rooms. Ella's had one for about a year now...that's when she started to let her imagination run wild at night. Mailee just got one in her room about a month ago (right when we got back to Iowa). She kept crying after we left her room at night. Now she cant wait to see Aerial make her room purple :)
What would we do without night lights?
p.s. so glad you got that quilt. Did yours stink when you got it? I had to wash mine twice before I got that nasty package smell out of it. Me and the girls fight over that quilt every day :)
LOL!! I love it! That is a classic one - thank heavens for night lights! Chase has to have his little moon night light on the wall as well as a disco light spinning in his room before he can go to sleep...makes me wonder how psychodelic his dreams are!
That is so funny! I understand Ethan and Katia have night lights and Katia has to have her door open all the way at night.
It's pretty incredable what a night light can do to ease children's giraffes...I mean imaginations! :) We had the same princess night light until Ellary decided to break it...Hope it continues to help.
too funny! my kids have almost always had night lights in their rooms, thanks to genes they inherited from their father(mason has nightmares now & then, but when they come, it can be a little crazy:) sweet dreams girls:)
That's hilarious! The things kids come up with! BTW I love the night light! :)
We have the same night light for Tynley, and she cries if I put her in the crib and points to it if it's not on!
This post is so sweet. YOu are a good write, DL!
